It seems 40 MPG is all the rage these days, and Mazda for one intends not to be left out in the cold. Looking to build on the popularity of the Mazda 3, the latest 2012 incarnation promises to bring better mileage then past used Mazda 3's.
The gains come not from some electric engine, or redesigned body, or ultra light materials those other new cars for sale use. No, Mazda is outdoing all those other cars under 15000 by building a better car. Or more accurately, Mazda built a better engine and transmission.
The new 2012 Madza 3 will have a new lighter six speed transmission and new 2.0 liter engine from the past used Mazda 3. Some new body work will also herald the new arrival when it appears Mazda dealer inventory locators.
The move to 40 MPG will be a big step forward for the Mazda 3 lineup, up over 7 MPG from the 2011 version and into competition for a market dominated by hybrids, clean diesels, and micro cars. Though the upgrades will likely cost the Mazda 3 its cars under 15000 bragging rights, it will still be able to brag about its price when stacked up against its competitors.
It will be a few months before you can use the Mazda dealer locator to pick yours up, but the wait will be worth it. The wait however might be longer before you see them on a used car search engine. Like the Prius, expect buyers to treasure their cost saving car and horde them for themselves.
Expect sales of the Mazda 3 to climb among new cars for sale to match the spike in mileage.
