We came in with an appointment after being clear on the phone that we were looking for a specific model and that we were buying on the Costco plan. After we waited for 15 minutes, the sales manager told us he was busy with a customer and gave us to a salesman who informed us that they didn't have the model that we wanted. In fact, they didn't have the year we wanted (it was the end of the 2008 model year).
The salesman tried all of his techniques to get us to buy a 2009, even a different model than we wanted.
We came away feeling that we had experienced nearly everything that we'd heard for years about high-pressure care sales. They were not interested in providing service to us; they just wanted to make their sale, no matter what.
We had shopped there once before, several years ago, and thought we had just been in the presence of a bad salesman. Now we think it's part of the dealership's culture.
We bought our car later that afternoon, at another dealership (after being told that no one had any 2008s left on their lots), at a price significantly cheaper than the "deal" Miramar VW had presented.
