I purchased my first new car from Sterling McCall Toyota.I had gone into the dealership to have a used car evaluated for repair. The service department quickly informed me that my old car would cost more money to repair than it was worth. As a young college freshman, I needed a dependable car to get back and forth to college class and my part time job. The salespeople were more than eager to offer me a car. It took three or four refusals, once they offered me the more expensive models to heed my demand for an affordable car! Finally, into the golf cart we went, cruising to the back of the dealership lot to locate the affordable cars. The affordable cars are kept on the very back of the lot. I suppose out of customer’s sigh, out of customer’s mind when shopping for a vehicle is the sentiment there. After completing paper work and being approved, I was given the shiny keys to a shiny new car. I received a copy of the sales papers. I made sure to ask about a copy of the contract. I had repeatedly asked that I be placed in a sales contract and not a lease. I was assured that was indeed the case. I repeatedly asked as time went on for a copy of the contract but was given the runaround repeatedly. I was assured however that I was in fact in a sales contract, but not a lease (as were my wishes). After losing my job, I attempted to make arrangements with the finance company but was refused as they informed me I was in a lease. Had I been in a sales contract I would be allowed to make said arrangements. There was even a local news investigation, complete with upset picketing protesters (unhappy customers of Sterling McCall Toyota). Apparently, I wasn’t the only one deceived. I just won’t ever do business with them again. I sound the warning to anybody to steer clear of this place at all costs. There are other more reputable dealers to do business with.
