Join Auto Credit Express as we take you on a tour of the 2008 North American International Auto Show beginning January 13th!

Detroit Auto Show

In the automotive business, the months of January and February have always been approached with a sense of resignation. The holidays are over, but spring has not yet sprung. Car and Driver magazine realized this and in 1983 started its “10 Best” issue in January to help pick up circulation.

Nothing but Gray Skies…

At Auto Credit Express here in Michigan, add to that a month that gives us sunny days less than half the time and you have a recipe for disaster in the making. So for the automotive buffs in our office, the aforementioned magazine issue and the North American International Auto Show (its official name) are what keep us going until the sun finally comes out and the snow melts.

A Really Big Show!

This years’ auto show begins on January 13th and continues until the 27th. The first 3 days are devoted to international press coverage and include new model and concept vehicle introductions as well as press conferences by major manufacturers and suppliers. The next 2 days, January 16th and 17th, are industry preview days where the press, as well as suppliers and manufacturers, can tour the show. Friday, January 18th, is the Charity Preview – a black tie event that draws national and local celebrities, athletes and politicians to one of the premiere social events in the industry – in 2007, $6 million was raised for youth services for children in Michigan. Following this, the public portion of the show begins on January 19th and runs through January 27th.

If you don’t live within driving distance of Detroit, I will be attending the show and, upon my return, writing about anything and everything connected to it.
