While Ford didn’t have much of anything new to present, we were able to get closer to some of the models coming out of Dearborn this summer.
Here at LotPro.com, we’re treating the 2008 SAE World Congress as an auto show, only because we find the final product to be more entertaining than its individual parts.
2009 Ford Flex

Ford Motor Company needs this vehicle to be successful. With high gas prices, the bottom has dropped out of the pickup and SUV segments. While it may look a bit on the clunky side, think of the Flex as an attempt to bring some of the style of the MINI to the crossover segment. In addition to mimicking the somewhat boxy style of the MINI, the Flex is available with the contrasting roof made famous by the legendary import. Not only was the Flex sitting on the floor (as opposed to up on a stand), the doors were open and we could actually sit in it.
2009 Lincoln MKS

The 2009 MKS is the most handsome looking Lincoln to come down the pike in quite some time. Sporting Lincoln’s new corporate “waterfall” grille, the MKS looks as if it will do to Lincoln what the CTS was able to do for the Cadillac brand – give the division something to brag about style-wise in something other than a crossover vehicle or SUV. From any angle, Lincoln has produced a winner.
2008 Saleen Mustang S281 Supercharged

Although technically a Saleen, it’s still a Mustang, albeit with a 281 cubic inch 3-Vave SOHC V-8 that features a twin-screw supercharger and dual-stage water-to-air intercooler system. With 465 HP available at 5,800 RPM, the S281 produces 425 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 RPM. 20” wheels shod with Pirelli P-Zero Rosso Tires are standard, as are 14” slotted and vented brakes with 4-piston calipers in front along with 11.8” vented rear brakes with single-piston calipers.
Options include everything from a Shaker 1000 sound system and Rockford Fosgate “Punch” sound system to a full-length scenic roof.
