Audi launches a Facebook Cause campaign to benefit The Nature Conservancy Tensas River Basin project that aims to reduce carbon emissions.
Automobiles and the environment
Here at LotPro.com we see dozens of stories each week coming from the auto companies. A few of them, like this one, deserve a second look.

Campaign starts this week
Audi of America announced this week that it has launched a Facebook Cause campaign as part of its commitment to support The Nature Conservancy in its efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
The project is part of Audi’s public awareness initiative for its TDI clean diesel engines, which the company claims reduce carbon emissions by 20 percent over comparable petrol versions.

“Our engineers are always innovating to reduce our vehicles’ carbon emissions, and we’ve taken a giant leap forward with the introduction of the Audi Q7 TDI clean diesel this year,” said Johan de Nysschen, President, Audi of America. “But our commitment doesn’t stop with our products; we want to promote reduced emissions through support of organizations like The Nature Conservancy, and also to spread the word about the benefits of reduced emissions.”
How to participate
For its part, Audi will donate up to $25,000 to the voluntary offset program by chipping in $1 for every Facebook user who joins the cause. To join the cause and trigger the $1 donation to The Nature Conservancy, Facebook users should visit www.causes.com/natureconservancy.
“Reducing carbon emissions through protecting and restoring forests plays a critical role in fighting climate change,” said Zoe Kant of The Nature Conservancy. “Audi’s contribution will provide necessary support to our voluntary carbon offset program’s reforestation and forest protection projects, but it will also help us to bring the benefits of the project to a new audience of supporters.”
Carbon offset program
The Tensas River Basin Project is the Conservancy’s first carbon offset project. Located in the Lower Mississippi Valley in the states of Arkansas and Louisiana, funds from the project will contribute to the purchasing of land and trees in the river basin, as well as monitoring the carbon benefits of these actions.
