A benefit for charity
Back in February, Audi agreed to auction the first U.S. R8 V10 at the Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance and donate the proceeds to charity (in this case the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County). After reaching a final price of $500,000 (the highest amount ever paid for a new Audi), the winning bidder offered to give his rights to the vehicle if Audi would give him the second model available. Audi agreed and the first two R8 V10’s sold for a combined $850,000 (eat your heart out, Iron Man).

This past week, in a special presentation, Jamie McDonnell, chairman of the Boca Raton Concours d’ Elegance, handed over the keys for the first R8 V10 model to Tom Gonzales of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He then presented keys for the second R8 V10 to George and Sue Levin, also of Fort Lauderdale, Florida (thus ensuring that any drop in the local real estate market would be immediately offset with these two vehicles).

“Plenty of people have been waiting to get behind the wheel of these remarkable sports cars, so it’s great to give these generous donors – Mr. Gonzales and the Levins – the first opportunities to enjoy the Audi R8 V10 experience, “said Jon Kolody, Area Sales Manager, Audi of America. “What makes this even more gratifying is seeing how excitement for the Audi brand is benefitting such a worthy South Florida cause.”
