This year will mark the 30th anniversary of the Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance, held every August on the grounds of Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester, Michigan.

The Concours has, for the past 30 years, been a showcase for some of the finest vintage motor cars from across the country and around the world. For 2009, the theme “The Best of Detroit” has been chosen to both celebrate the automotive excellence of the epicenter of the American industry as well as to acknowledge the support of the manufacturers that have, in so many ways, made this particular classic auto show possible.

“Detroit’s ‘Big 3’ auto makers have been perennial supporters of the Meadow Brook Concours,” said Matthew de Larcinese, Executive Director – Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance. “As a gesture of gratitude for their long-standing support, the Concours is pleased to commemorate its 30th Anniversary with a celebration of Detroit’s automotive heritage featuring the engineering and design excellence of General Motors, Ford and Chrysler.”

This year’s event is scheduled for Sunday, August 2nd and will feature an impressive collection of vintage automobiles and motorcycles. The “Best of Detroit” category will be augmented by the following:

•    Fins and Chrome: The Convertibles of 1959
•    Packard V-12
•    Swoopy Coupes
•    Rolls Royce Phantom
•    100th Anniversary of Morgan and a Celebration of British Sports Cars
•    Motorcycles − The British Twins

1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud

There will also be a display of classic automobiles on loan from the Gilmore Car Museum, which located on the west side of the state in Hickory Corners, Michigan.

“The Concours enjoyed record attendance in 2008 and, with a strong local theme, we expect even more interest this year,” de Larcinese added.
