Prices rise slightly while a mid-cycle refresh gives Nissan's compact a decidedly more upscale look.
2016 Nissan Sentra
Sales of compact sedans may be less than red hot right now with the price of a gallon of gas hovering around two bucks, but that doesn't mean the competition in this segment is backing off. With an all-new Honda Civic and Chevrolet Cruze entering the fray, Nissan had to do something to keep its also-ran Sentra somewhat competitive.
Thus we will see a mildly-updated Sentra for the 2016 model year replete with boomerang-shaped headlights, "V-motion" grille, updated hood and bumpers and even re-shaped taillights.
SR and SL trims receive new standard LED low-beam headlights with LED signature accents. Also new for 2016 is one exterior color – Deep Blue Pearl.
Inside, the dashboard is redesigned with softer touch materials; the C-stack has been revised, while drivers will be presented with an all-new steering wheel. SV, SR and SL grades also come standard with what Nissan calls an "Advanced Drive-Assist Display" (ADAD) comprised of a 5.0-inch screen located between the tachometer and speedometer as well as Siri Eyes Free.
Sentra also features a new standard Active Understeer Control (AUC) system (not available on S 6MT and FE+ S grades).

Whether these changes will be enough to keep it on buyer's lists, given the new competition, remains to be seen, but Nissan has announced that the starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for a 2016 Sentra S, equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, is $17,610, an increase of just $260 over the 2015 model (an additional $250 for the vehicle plus an additional $10 for destination and delivery).
