Mazda drops the i SV trim but also drops the price on the higher-content i Sport model

The battle in the compact car segment is tougher than ever, with even the best-in-class Mazda Mazda3 feeling the pressure. So to shake things up a bit for the 2016 model year, Mazda is dropping the entry-level i SV trim while reducing the price of the higher-content 2015 i Sport model by $600.
2016 Mazda Mazda3 i Sport
So while the price of entry has gone up, the 2016 i Sport now offer buyers a new standard rear view camera plus the same upgrade in features for just $900 more than last year's i SV model including:
• Body-colored, dual folding power side mirrors
• Dual map lights and rear cabin light
• Steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls
• 60/40 split fold-down rear seat
• Cruise control
• Analog speedometer and digital tachometer
• Trip computer
• MAZDA CONNECT infotainment system (7-inch color touch screen, multi-function Commander control, voice command, AM/FM/HD Radio with 6 speakers, Pandora, Stitcher and Aha, SMS text message auto deliver and voice reply, E911 automatic emergency notification)
• Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming
• Aux input jack and two USB audio ports
There's also a new i Sport Preferred Equipment Package option that includes:
• 16-inch alloy wheels
• Bright beltline trim
• Heated door mirrors with integrated turn signal lamps
• Premium cloth-trimmed sport seats
• Rear seat armrest with cupholders
• Auto on/off headlights
• Rain-sensing windshield wipers
• Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)
• Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
2016 Mazda Mazda3 Touring
Additional equipment for the Touring trim level on 2016 models includes a power moonroof, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers. There's also a new Touring Popular Equipment Package option that includes:
• An auto-dimming interior mirror
• Dual-zone automatic climate control
• Bose 9-speaker sound system with Centerpoint and AutoPilot
• SiriusXM satellite radio (w/4-month subscription)

For 2016, no changes have been made to the standard equipment of either the i or S Grand Touring models. There is, however, an new Technology Package option for the S trim that includes:
