The Mopar display at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show includes 2 Jeep Renegades and a Challenger T/A Concept
Mopar at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show
Visitors to this year's North American International Auto Show may notice that the parts group of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is displaying a pair of customized Jeeps as well as a rather unique Dodge.
According to Mopar, both Renegades as well as the Challenger showcase how owners can "personalize their rides."
Here, briefly, is what they're called and what they look like:
Off-road Mopar-equipped Jeep Renegade
The smaller Renegade may not have the pedigree of a Wrangler, but it does have its own set of off-road chops as evidenced by this off-road Jeep Renegade Trailhawk model slathered in Commando Green paint.
Mopar added body-side graphics that mimic the "X"-shape styling of the taillamps – which, themselves, pick up on the Jerry can "X" design associated with World War II-era military Jeeps. The Motor City hasn't been forgotten, either, as the Mopar Topographical Hood decal displays a map of Detroit.
Additional accoutrements include satin black wheels trimmed in "Colorado" red, roof side rails, cross rails, roof basket, concept skid plate, prototype rock rails and rear valance, production Mopar skid plate kit and the Jeep name laser cut on the prototype rock rails.
Urban Mopar-equipped Jeep Renegade
Moving from the mountains to the city, the Urban Jeep Renegade arrives replete with an Anvil paint finish with Omaha orange trim – including the pockets found on the satin black wheels.
Orange also accents the mirror caps, grille rings, taillamp surrounds and roof rails, while, in back, a Mopar hitch carrier holds a matching Anvil and orange mountain bike.
Dodge Challenger T/A Concept
First displayed at the 2014 SEMA Show, the Dodge Challenger T/A Concept makes its first public appearance at the 2015 NAIAS.
The latest retro-inspired Challenger is swathed in Sublime Green paint and full-length matte black T/A graphics. In addition, the horizontal surfaces from the hood to the decklid spoiler also get the matte black treatment.
The hood gets a functional "Viper"-inspired center scoop, while the gloss black hood pins have been adapted to accommodate a Mopar induction system. Meanwhile, the Mopar matte black front splitter and matte black gurney-lip deck-lid spoiler have been engineered to provide additional downforce.
The twin Air Catcher headlamps not only add to the appearance with hidden LED lights, they provide a stream of cool air to the engine. Inside the 20x9.5-inch black forged alloy wheels reside Brembo six-piston calipers featuring two-piece slotted and vented rotors, while both rear and side exhaust tips feature a black ceramic finish with electronic cutouts offering the choice of a stock rear exhaust or more free-flowing side exhaust.
