Texans and their pickups

Point number one: Texas may be big, but as big as it is it still lacks an auto show with the stature of those held in Los Angeles, Detroit and New York. But it makes up for this deficiency by hosting the State Fair of Texas – a 24-day affair held at Fair Park in Dallas where, in 2016, 2,408,032 people walked past "Big Tex" to take in the festivities. That figure, by the way, easily eclipses each of the three major US auto shows, where anywhere near a million attendees is considered a success.

Point number two: Texans buy a lot of pickup trucks. According to FCA's Ram brand:

More Texans drive pickup trucks than drivers in any other state; 20 percent of motor vehicle registrations versus 12 percent national average. In fact, Ram sells nearly two-and-a-half times as many pickup trucks in Texas as it does in the next-highest volume state.

It's no wonder, then, that the major truck manufacturers produce a plethora of "Texas-only" and "Texas-inspired" pickups, many of which are only available and sold in the Lone Star State.
