2015 Golf models prices to start with a new launch model below 19K
2015 Volkswagen Golf
Earlier this week, Volkswagen of America released pricing information on the 2015 Golf lineup as well as what it calls a "limited availability" launch model.
Priced at $18,818 including destination, the 2-door 2015 Golf Launch Edition model will come equipped with a number of standard features not found on the current Golf 2.5 including:
• A 1.8-liter turbocharged, direct-injection four cylinder engine
• Standard 5.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system
• Bluetooth connectivity
• Media Device Interface (MDI) with iPod integration
• Standard Automatic Post-Collision Braking System (APCBS)
As for the rest of the model line, 2015 Golf models will be offered in both 2- and 4-door configurations. Engine choices will be limited to two: the aforementioned EA888 1.8-liter TSI petro 4-cylinder engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or six-speed automatic, or the new EA288 2.0-liter turbocharged, direct injection TDI diesel 4-cylinder fitted with either a six-speed manual or six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic.
There are certain limitations to what seems to be a smorgasbord of choices i.e.: the launch edition is only available as a 2-door while TDI diesel models and TSI models including S with Sunroof, SE and SEL will only be available with four doors. So here goes:
2015 Golf TSI
Golf TSI Launch Edition: starting price $18,818 (2-door)
In addition to the aforementioned goodies, standard features include a touchscreen radio, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, cloth seats with manual lumbar adjustment, air conditioning and power windows and locks.
Golf TSI S: starting price $19,818 (2-door), $21,515 (4-door)
The S comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission. Four-door models get partial power seats while opting for a four-door automatic adds aluminum-alloy wheels, VW Car-Net connected services V-Tex leatherette seating, leather- wrapped handbrake, shifter knob and multifunction steering wheel, and cruise control.
Golf TSI S with sunroof: starting price $21,815 (4-door)
The Golf S adds a power tilt and slide panoramic sunroof.
Golf TSI SE: starting price $25,315 (4-door)
The SE trim adds 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, a cold weather package consisting of heated front seats and front washer nozzles, rain-sensing automatic windshield wipers, automatic headlights, front fog lights, rearview camera and Fender Premium Audio System.
Golf TSI SEL: starting price $27,815 (4-door)
The SEL trim adds 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, navigation system, Climatronic automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, sport seats with 12-way power driver's seat, and ambient lighting with LED interior reading lights.
Golf TSI options
A six-speed automatic is available on all Golf TSI trim levels ($1,100). Options available for TSI models, starting with the Golf S with sunroof trim level, include a lighting package with Bi-Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, ambient lighting with LED interior reading lights and an Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) ($995) and a Driver Assistance Package with Forward Collision Warning and front and rear Park Distance Control ($695).
2015 Golf TDI
Golf TDI S: starting price $22,815 (4-door)
Golf TDI trim levels mirror that of TSI models. The introductory TDI S model comes standard with a six-speed manual and 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
Golf TDI SE: starting price $26,315 (4-door)
The TDI SE features the same level of standard equipment as the TSI SE.
Golf TDI SEL: starting price $28,815 (4-door)
The TDI SEL features the same level of standard equipment as the TSI SEL.
