Summary
On certain passenger and sport utility vehicles equipped with anti-lock braking system, in extremely cold weather, the brake master cylinder seals can fail. If this occurs, the brake pedal can go to the floor during application, increasing the brake stopping distance.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder. Owner notification is expected to begin during April 1999. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Subaru at 1-800-782-2783.
