NHTSA CRASH TEST RESULTS
Frontal crash ratings Driver: * * * * * Passenger: * * * * *
Side crash ratings Driver: * * * Rear Passenger: * *
Results based on a 35 MPH frontal crash and 38.5 MPH side crash. Results are reported in a range of one to five stars, with five stars indicating the best crash protection for vehicles within the same weight class. This test used driver and passenger belts and airbags.
NHTSA ROLLOVER RESISTANCE RATING * * * *
The Rollover Resistance Rating is an estimate of your risk of rolling over if you have a single vehicle crash. It does not predict the likelihood of that crash. The Rollover Resistance Rating essentially measures vehicle characteristics of center of gravity and track width to determine how "top-heavy" a vehicle is. The more "top-heavy" the vehicle, the more likely it is to roll over. The lowest rated vehicles (1-star) are at least four times more likely to roll over than the highest rated vehicles (5-stars).

Saturn SL Recalls Issued - 2001

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 00V310
Number Of Units Affected 65,000
Summary Certain passenger vehicles equipped with automatic transaxles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 114, "Theft Protection." These vehicles were built with an improperly adjusted automatic transaxle park lock cable assembly. If improperly adjusted, it is possible to shift from the "park" position with the ignition key removed. This condition increases the risk of a crash resulting from unintended movement.
Remedy Saturn is asking owners and retailers to perform a functional check of the automatic transaxle park lock cable assembly operation and, if necessary, to have the cable adjusted. If owners are not comfortable performing the functional check themselves, they can have their dealer perform this inspection for them. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification began Oct. 6, 2000. Owners who have questions about this recall should contact Saturn at 1-800-553-6000.
Dates of Manufacture January - July 2000
