NHTSA CRASH TEST RESULTS
Frontal crash ratings Driver: * * * * Passenger: * * * *
Side crash ratings Driver: * * * Rear Passenger: * * * *
Results based on a 35 MPH frontal crash and 38.5 MPH side crash. Results are reported in a range of one to five stars, with five stars indicating the best crash protection for vehicles within the same weight class. This test used driver and passenger belts and airbags.
NHTSA ROLLOVER RESISTANCE RATING * * * *
The Rollover Resistance Rating is an estimate of your risk of rolling over if you have a single vehicle crash. It does not predict the likelihood of that crash. The Rollover Resistance Rating essentially measures vehicle characteristics of center of gravity and track width to determine how "top-heavy" a vehicle is. The more "top-heavy" the vehicle, the more likely it is to roll over. The lowest rated vehicles (1-star) are at least four times more likely to roll over than the highest rated vehicles (5-stars).

Toyota Echo Recalls Issued - 2001

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 00V256
Number Of Units Affected 4,530
Summary On certain passenger vehicles registered in the states of Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, condensed moisture from the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) port could seep toward the brake vacuum port inside the intake manifold at freezing ambient temperatures and start to freeze. Vacuum assist to the brakes would decrease and increased pedal pressure would be required, increasing the vehicle stopping distance.
Remedy Dealers will repair the vacuum port. Also, owners of the subject vehicles in states other than the recall states will be notified of the recall. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification was to begin during October 2000. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
Dates of Manufacture August 1999 - March 2000
