"Dodge's Stratus has a divided parentage: Sedans have a Chrysler-based design shared with the Chrysler Sebring sedan. Stratus coupes have a Mitsubishi-based design shared with the Chrysler Sebring coupe. Revised styling inside and out for the coupe and the midyear arrival of the

2004 sedans are the top news items for stratus.

Both '03 and '04 sedans offer SE, SXT, ES, and sporty R/T trim. SXT comes only with a 4-cyl engine. A Chrysler-made 2.7-liter V6 is a mandatory $1270 option on the SE and is standard on ES and R/T. The R/T comes with a choice of a 5-speed manual transmission or Chrysler's AutoStick automatic transmission with manual shift gate -- that on 2004 models includes traction control. All other sedans use a conventional 4-speed automatic. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard. ABS is standard on the R/T, optional on other sedans. Head-protecting curtain side airbags are optional; no torso side airbags are offered. For '03, the ES's standard alloy wheels gain a chrome finish.

Coupes use powertrains and platforms from Mitsubishi's Eclipse and Galant. Like their Chrysler Sebring counterparts, Stratus coupes have fresh styling, a new dashboard and door panels, and for the first time are available with optional front side airbags. They come in SXT and R/T trim levels. SXT comes only with a 4-cyl engine. A 3.0-liter V6 is standard on the R/T. Coupes use manual transmission or optional automatic. The R/T can be ordered with an Autostick automatic. Four-wheel disc brakes are included with the V6, but among coupes, ABS is optional only on the R/T."
