2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Reviews

"Midyear addition of a high-performance all-wheel-drive model highlights 2003 for this subcompact sedan. The AWD Evolution joins Lancer's front-wheel-drive ES, LS, and sporty O-Z Rally models. All have a 2.0-liter 4-cyl engine. Evolution's is turbocharged and has 271 hp. The others have 120 hp. A 5-speed manual transmission is mandatory on Evolution, standard on ES and O-Z. An automatic is standard on the LS and optional on ES and O-Z. ABS is standard on the Evolution, optional for the LS along with front side airbags; neither are available on other Lancers. The LS comes with 15-inch alloy wheels vs. the ES's steel 14s. The O-Z uses 15-inch O-Z-brand alloy wheels, aero body trim, white-face gauges, and metal-look interior trim. The Evolution has distinct front-end styling and additional features such as 17-inch Enkei-brand alloy wheels, a sport suspension, Brembo-brand 4-wheel disc brakes (other Lancers have rear drum brakes), and a choice of two rear spoilers. New for 2003 is an optional sunroof that's available on all but the ES model. "

Frontal crash ratings Driver: * * * *    Passenger: * * * *
Side crash ratings Driver: * *    Rear Passenger: * * * *
Results based on a 35 MPH frontal crash and 38.5 MPH side crash. Results are reported in a range of one to five stars, with five stars indicating the best crash protection for vehicles within the same weight class. This test used driver and passenger belts and airbags.
The Rollover Resistance Rating is an estimate of your risk of rolling over if you have a single vehicle crash. It does not predict the likelihood of that crash. The Rollover Resistance Rating essentially measures vehicle characteristics of center of gravity and track width to determine how "top-heavy" a vehicle is. The more "top-heavy" the vehicle, the more likely it is to roll over. The lowest rated vehicles (1-star) are at least four times more likely to roll over than the highest rated vehicles (5-stars).
