 The Rollover Resistance Rating is an estimate of your risk of rolling over if you have a single vehicle crash. It does not predict the likelihood of that crash. The Rollover Resistance Rating utilizes a "fishhook" maneuver which is a series of abrupt turns at varying speeds to see how "top-heavy" a vehicle is. The more "top-heavy" the vehicle, the more likely it is to roll over. The lowest rated vehicles (1-star) are at least four times more likely to roll over than the highest rated vehicles (5-stars). |
2004 Jeep Liberty Review
"A tire-pressure monitor and hands-free cell-phone link are newly available on Liberty for 2004. Jeep's compact SUV is a 4-dr wagon with a tailgate that swings open to the left and carries the outside-mounted spare tire. The base Sport model comes with a 150-hp 4-cyl engine. Optional on Sport and standard on Limited and Renegade models is a 210-hp V6. The 4 cyl uses manual transmission, the V6 gets manual or automatic. Liberty offers rear-wheel drive or a choice of two 4WD systems, both with low-range gearing. Jeep's Command-Trac 4WD must be disengaged on dry pavement. Selec-Trac 4WD can be left engaged on dry pavement. Liberty's 5000-lb towing capacity is tops among compact SUVs. Head-protecting curtain side airbags and ABS are optional. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard. Liberty has standard 16-inch wheels; 17s are optional on some models. A 65/35 split folding rear seat is standard, and leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a sunroof are available. Renegade's exclusive appearance features include a roof light bar and ""bolt-on-look"" fender arches. Sport models gain an AM/FM/CD player as standard for '04, and all Libertys now maintain accessory power for 10 minutes after the key has been removed from the ignition. New options include the tire-pressure monitor and Chrysler's UConnect, which uses the audio system as a hands-free, wireless link to cell phones.

| Summary | Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2004-2007 Jeep Liberty vehicles. The rear suspension lower control arms can fracture due to excessive corrosion, causing a loss of vehicle control. |
| Consequence | A fractured control arm can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. |
| Remedy | Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear lower control arms, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 20, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U38. Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 12V-085. Vehicles included in that campaign are not included in this recall. |

The Rollover Resistance Rating is an estimate of your risk of rolling over if you have a single vehicle crash. It does not predict the likelihood of that crash. The Rollover Resistance Rating utilizes a "fishhook" maneuver which is a series of abrupt turns at varying speeds to see how "top-heavy" a vehicle is. The more "top-heavy" the vehicle, the more likely it is to roll over. The lowest rated vehicles (1-star) are at least four times more likely to roll over than the highest rated vehicles (5-stars). |
