2005 Mazda B-Series 2WD Truck Review
"Mazda's pickup truck is a Ford-built design shared with the Ford Ranger. They differ slightly in styling and features. B-Series comes as a regular cab and as the Cab Plus 4 extended cab. The Cab Plus 4 has two rear jump seats and two rear-hinged rear doors that do not open independently of the front doors. The B2300 has a 2.3-liter 4-cyl engine. B3000s use a 3.0-liter V6, B4000s a 4.0 V6. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard for all but the B4000 SE Cab Plus 4, which has a 5-speed automatic; the automatic is optional for all other models. B2300 and B3000s are rear-wheel drive only; B4000s have 4WD that should be disengaged on dry pavement and includes low-range gearing. ABS is standard on all. Dual Sport models have 2WD, but use a 4WD-style raised suspension. The B-Series' performance and accommodations mirror those of similarly equipped Rangers."

Summary Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2004-2006 Mazda B-series trucks. Upon deployment of the passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
Consequence In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants, potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
Remedy Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger side frontal air bag inflator with an alternate inflator, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 17, 2018. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda's number for this recall is 1817L. Note: This recall supersedes recall 15V-346. Vehicles that received a replacement air bag inflator under the previous campaign need to return to a dealer to have an alternate inflator installed.
