2005 Pontiac Vibe Review
"Additional safety features and revised styling mark the 2005 edition of Pontiac's crossover wagon. Vibe shares its basic design with Toyota's Matrix and offers front- or all-wheel drive. Base and GT models are featured, both with a Toyota-sourced 4-cyl engine. The front-drive base model has 130 hp and a 5-speed manual transmission or optional 4-speed automatic. The AWD base model has 123 hp and automatic transmission only. The sportier Vibe GT has 170 hp, front-drive, and a 6-speed manual transmission. AWD Vibes are not intended for off-roading and lack low-range gearing. AWD and GT Vibes come with ABS and for '05 gain a standard tire-pressure monitor; that combination is optional on the base 2WD model. Base models are available with an antiskid system. Head-protecting curtain side airbags are another new '05 option; they team with carryover front torso side airbags. Front and rear styling are freshened, and leather upholstery and OnStar assistance are newly available. Vibes have a swing-up tailgate with separate-opening window. They come with 16-inch wheels; 17s are optional with front-drive. Among dealer-installed accessories is a supercharger for front-drive base models that boosts horsepower to 175. Vibe's performance and accommodations mirror those of comparably equipped Matrix models. "

Summary Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2003-2008 Corolla, 2005-2008 Corolla Matrix, and Pontiac Vibe vehicles equipped with a front passenger air bag assembly replaced under a prior recall. The air bag may not unfold as designed during inflation under high temperature conditions, possibly resulting in the air bag not inflating properly.
Consequence An improperly inflated air bag increases the risk of injury during a crash.
Remedy Toyota will notify their owners. Pontiac Vibe owners will be notified by GM. Dealers will replace the front passenger air bag assembly, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin September 25, 2019 for Toyota owners. Toyota owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's numbers for this recall are K1Q and K0Q. Pontiac owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-762-2737. GM's number for this recall is N192273760.
