2005 Toyota Prius Review
"A rear-window wiper is standard instead of optional for 2005 on this gas/electric hybrid car. Prius is a 5-passenger, 4-dr hatchback. It has both a 4-cyl gasoline engine and an electric motor that combine for 110 hp. A computer determines whether the car runs on the motor, the engine, or both. The motor helps save fuel and reduce emissions by propelling the car at low speeds and by assisting the gas engine during acceleration. Coasting and decelerating recharge the motor's batteries; no plug-in is required. The transmission is a continuously variable automatic (CVT) that provides near-infinite drive ratios. ABS and traction control are standard. An antiskid system is available, as are front torso side airbags and head-protecting curtain side airbags. Other options include xenon headlamps, a navigation system with voice control, and a keyless entry/starting system with carry-along transmitter. Prius includes special warranty coverage of 3-years/36,000-mi. bumper-to-bumper, 5/60,000 powertrain, and 8/100,000 for the motor, battery pack, and other hybrid-related components."
