It does not predict the likelihood of that crash. The Rollover Resistance Rating utilizes a "fishhook" maneuver which is a series of abrupt turns at varying speeds to see how "top-heavy" a vehicle is. 2007 Kia Sportage Review
The newly redesigned 2007 Kia Sportage is a compact 4-door, 5-passenger SUV that is available in 2 trim levels: the Kia Sportage LX and the Kia Sportage EX. Both trims have FWD and AWD available. The Kia Sportage LX has a standard 2.0L, I4, 140-hp engine with a 5-speed manual transmission and an optional 4-speed automatic. The Kia Sportage LX V6 and EX V6 have standard 2.7L, V6, 173-hp engine with a 4-speed automatic transmission.
Standard features on all trims include: power outlets, multiple airbags, power windows and locks, alloy wheels, stereo system with CD player, air-conditioning, remote fuel door release, ABS brakes, traction and stability control, tire detail, interior spare tire, child safety locks, interval and rear wiper, flip-up tailgate window, tinted and privacy glass, power adjustable exterior mirror, rear defroster, skid plate, trip computer, tilt steering and steering column, stabilizer bar, front bucket seats, multiple storage compartments, and halogen headlights. Standard on the EX V6 are keyless entry with remote, anti-theft devices, cruise control, leather steering wheel, and fog lights. All of the above with the exception of the sunroof are optional on the LX V6.
Optional for the EX V6 are CD changer, subwoofer, running boards, heated seats, leather interior and automatic headlights.

| Summary | Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Rondo and Sportage, model year 2007-2011 Sorento, model year 2007 Sedona, model year 2010-2011 Soul, and model year 2011 Optima vehicles. The stop lamp switch in the affected vehicles may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and causing the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate. |
| Consequence | Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, when the ignition is in the 'ON' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of PARK without first applying the brake. This may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash. |
| Remedy | Kia will send an interim notification to owners in May 2013. When parts are available, owners will receive a second notification and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall campaign number is SC098. |
