2008 GMC Canyon Review
The 2008 GMC Canyon Crew Cab 2WD is a compact truck that is offered in 3 trims; the SLE-1, SLE-2 and the SLT. The SLE-1 has a 2.9-liter, I4, 185-hp engine while the SLE-2 and the SLT have a 3.7-liter, I5, 242hp engine. All of the GMC Canyon Crew Cab 2WD trims come with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The 2008 Canyon Crew Cab 2WD is a 4-door, 6-passenger compact pickup that carries a 36,000mi/36 month basic warranty.

Some of the features on the Canyon Crew Cab 2WD SLT (which may be optional on other trims) include - front and rear suspension, stabilizer bar, ABS brakes, alloy wheels, compact spare tire with underbody carrier, safety airbags, child safety door locks, full power accessories, batter saver, front power outlet, stereo with CD player, telephone, steering wheel mounted controls, tilt steering, vehicle location system, keyless entry, remote controls, anti-lockout, locking/folding tailgate, folding and power adjustable mirrors, tinted and privacy glass, sliding rear window, bumper step up, air conditioning, cruise control, trip computer, temperature gauge, compass, tire pressure monitor, leather steering wheel, driver/passenger power front bucket seats with lumbar/heat/height adjust, leather interior, automatic halogen headlights and fog lights.

Summary GM IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2011, CHEVROLET COLORADO, GMC CANYON, MODEL YEAR 2006, ISUZU I-280/I-350, AND MODEL YEAR 2007-2008, I-290/I-370, REGULAR CAB VEHICLES AND EXTENDED CAB VEHICLES WITHOUT A REAR SEAT AND EQUIPPED WITH A FRONT 60/40 SPLIT BENCH SEAT. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 225, CHILD RESTRAINT ANCHORAGE SYSTEMS. THE TOP TETHER ANCHOR FOR THE FRONT CENTER SEAT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE AND THE OWNER MANUAL DOES NOT INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING HOW TO USE THE TOP TETHER.
Consequence BOTH NHTSA AND GM DISCOURAGE PLACEMENT OF A CHILD IN A FRONT SEAT. NEVERTHELESS, THERE ARE INDIVIDUAL CIRCUMSTANCES THAT MAY REQUIRE PLACEMENT OF A CHILD IN A RESTRAINT IN THE FRONT CENTER SEATING POSITION OF THIS VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT OFFER A REAR SEAT.
