The refreshed 2008 Volkswagen Passat Wagon is a 4-door, 5-passenger wagon that is available in 4 trims - The Passat Wagon Turbo, the Komfort, the Lux, and the VR6 4Motion. The Passat Wagon Turbo is equipped with a customary 2.0-liter, I4, 200-hp, turbo engine and a 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive, but, a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The Passat Wagon VR6 4Motion is equipped with a customary 3.6-liter, V6, 280-hp engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The 2008 Volkswagen Passat Wagon has a 50000mi/48 month basic warranty.
The 2008 Volkswagen Passat Wagon has all of the following standard features upon purchase: front and rear power outlets, multiple airbags, remote fuel door release, traction and stability control, stereo with CD player and changer, keyless entry with remote, vehicle and radio anti-theft, child safety door locks, full power accessories, signaling/heated/and power adjustable exterior mirrors, tinted glass, cruise control, outside temperature gauge, trip computer, compass, tilt steering, driver power adjustable seat, daytime running lights, and exterior rails. Not all of these features are available on the Turbo trim.
Standard on the VR6 4Motion trim include an electronic parking aid, AWD, memory adjustable exterior mirror, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, passenger power adjustable seat, heated front seats, and leather interior. | Summary | Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Volkswagen CC, 2010-2014 Golf, 2010-2011 Eos, 2007-2010 Passat Sedan, and 2007-2010 Passat Wagon vehicles. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to explode. |
| Consequence | In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could explode with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants potentially resulting in serious injury or death. |
| Remedy | Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator with an alternative inflator, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 15, 2018. Owners may contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 69Q9. Note: This recall partially supersedes recall 16V-078. |
