The 2009 Mazda RX-8 has been refreshed from 2008. The Mazda RX-8 is 4-door, 4-passenger sports car offered in 4 models starting with the Sport and extending to the R3. The 2009 Mazda RX-8 models have a routine 1.3 liter, R2, 232hp engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. The 2009 Mazda RX-8 averages 16mpg city and 22mpg highway. A 36,000/36 month is the basic warranty for the Mazda RX-8.

The 2009 Mazda RX-8 R3 comes with these standard features - anti-theft, power accessories, wheel locks, ABS brakes, traction/stability control, front dual access panels, power outlet, wireless access for Bluetooth®, CD changer with speed sensitive volume, fog lights, front air dam, rear spoiler, manual air conditioning, rear HVAC ducts, temperature gauge, cruise control, tire pressure monitor, steering wheel mounted controls, engine start/stop button, delayed courtesy lighting, ignition lighting, keyless entry with remote controls and releases, remote fuel door release, remote trunk release, universal garage door opener, keyless entry card key, trunk anti-trap, front dual reclining seats, leather seats, driver power lumbar, tilt steering column, lockable and illuminated glove box, power window lockout, interval front wipers, rear defroster, power and heated exterior mirrors and tinted glass. *All features may not be standard on other models.

Summary Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2009-2011 RX-8 and 2006-2007 MazdaSpeed6 vehicles. Fuel may leak from the fuel pump mounting rings.
Consequence A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Remedy Dealers will install new fuel pump mounting rings. Dealers will also add a thermal insulation pad to the fuel tank on RX-8 vehicles. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 23, 2021. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500, Option 4. Mazda's number for this recall is 5121I.
