Best Hybrids Cars Under 30k

As the Federal Government considers the moving target that is fuel economy standards by 2025 many people are asking how they can get a taste of that better mileage today. And while the competition for 40 MPG cars is growing, the Holy Grail is to do it and be affordable.

Some you are no doubt already aware of. The Toyota Prius is on everyone's watch list with its heavily loaded standard equipment, with the Honda Insight offering strong competition for best hybrids under 30k.

The Ford Fusion Hybrid is the best homebrewed options for a hybrid, though it doesn't rival its imported cousins for best new car price. At a starting price of over $28,000 you'll need quite a few new car rebates if you're buying with your pocket and not your patriotism.

In fact at the upper end of the $20k price range there are some surprising contestants. A Lexus Hybrid, are you serious? But if you seen a Lexus CT200H for sale, you know we are. Known normally for their new cars under 50k, Lexus is fronting a bit of reasonably priced luxury in its best hybrid offering, which is quite a surprise.

Also a surprise, to not see a Kia on top of the budget wars. The 2011 Kia Optima however is still among the best of its weight class for best hybrids under 30k, only sharing the title with its sister car, the Hyundai Sonata for best midsized sedans that get over 40 MPG.

Finding these cars for sale in Austin TX, Montgomery Al, or wherever you're shopping from can be a challenge however. With prices similar to their base model sister cars, it can be a daunting task to find that Ford Fusion Hybrid, or Honda Civic Hybrid.

At least it is if you want the best new car price. A lot of demand and not a lot of new car rebates make finding these affordable eco-friendly cars, like the Honda Insight, difficult.

Still, your options of new cars for sale are growing, as more brands start offering their own twist like the Lexus CT200H to consumers. Though we are some years away, expect 'hybrid versions' to become more popular as automakers look for ways to raise average fuel economy to meet that Federal mandate.

But remember its all about how much you save on gas. There could be an 80 MPG highway car, but if you have to shop for it in the new cars under $50k section, are you saving enough gas to be worth the cost? I doubt it. So remember to take your calculator with you when you shop for cars for sale in Austin TX, because the devil will always be in those numbers.
