With Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday upon us today the topic of donuts is a popular one. But being a car site we won't be talking custard and sprinkles but instead the best new cars to do donuts in.
Now to keep this list from getting silly, like doing donuts in a $100,000 SRT Viper, let's limit the fun to only new cars under $30,000. If you want to go over that by a bit more you can consider the Nissan 370Z or the BMW 1-series as well, but for anything less then that you'll want to stick to one of the manual RWD cars below:
Model
Price
Horsepower
Subaru BRZ
Chevrolet Camaro
Scion FR-S
Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Ford Mustang
Mazda Mazda3
$25,495
$23,345
$24,500
$24,250
$22,200
$23,720
200 horsepower
323 horsepower
200 horsepower
260 horsepower
305 horsepower
167 horsepower
Now the BRZ and the FR-S pure fun and the new kids on the block as far as rear wheel drive cars are concerned but for power to the price the Chevy Camaro is hard to look past right out of the box. Sure it's the under powered sister to the SS or the ZL1 Camaro, and the Cobra will take them all out back and beat them bloody but not everyone has $50,000 to light tires on one of the nearby empty car lots.
And if a manual is too much to handle and you have to have your parking lot fun in an automatic, then consider also the Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler 300. You'll be losing all the manual fun but at least you won't be left out of in the cold with your FWD friends.
