Changes for 2009

2009 Acura TSX

The 2009 Acura TSX represents the beginning of the second-generation TSX. First introduced in 2004, the TSX is based on the European Honda Accord – a completely different model than the U.S.-based Accord and unavailable here in the states until Honda decided to bring it in and re-badge it as an Acura. For 2009, the TSX is, again, a version of the new European Accord, with a revised exterior and unique (to Acura) interior. Length is up a bit over 2 inches, while the wheelbase has grown 1.4 inches and width is up 3 inches. The wheelbase has also been increased to 106.4 inches (up from 105.1).

Standard Features

The same 2.4 liter engine resides under the hood, but with revised compression, giving the TSX an additional 8 lb-ft of torque. Improved fuel economy for both the city and highway are offset by a loss in horsepower of 4. Front and rear stabilizer bars are larger and in a first for Acura, dual-mode dampers are employed in both the front and rear, giving the TSX optimal ride characteristics for both low and high-speed handling. HID front headlamps are standard, as are bumper-integrated fog lights.

Interior volume is up 3.6 cubic feet versus the 2008 version. Six airbags are standard (driver, passenger, front side and front and rear curtain airbags).

Available options include GPS navigation system with voice recognition and real-time traffic reporting and weather, as well as the premium ELS surround audio system.
