Chrome data has recently added the 2009 Nissan Murano and the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo to their database that includes vehicle pricing and technical specifications.

2009 Nissan Murano

Beauty, it is said, is in the eyes of the beholder. For 2009, the Murano gets a brand new platform (they call it their D architecture), new sheetmetal and a new interior. The interior is a major upgrade, with better materials and a cleaner dash. While the outside is more rounded, it seems to lack the crispness of the previous generation.

Under the hood is the familiar 3.5 liter V-6, with a couple more horsepower and a bit more torque (240 and 244 respectively). The suspension consists of struts in front and a multi-link setup in the back. 18” wheels are standard with 20’s as an option.

In its first generation guise, the Murano was one of the more handsome designs in the crossover SUV segment. Maybe the new design will grow on us.

2009 Chevrolet Aveo

It has fallen upon GM’s Korean partner, Daewoo, to supply the General with small cars for the U.S. Unfortunately, the Aveo is an embarrassing lump (albeit a small one) that suffers from numb steering and sub par handling. On the positive side, cabin materials are above average and the seating position and visibility for the driver are also excellent.

For 2009, the Aveo gets a facelift designed to bring it in line with the rest of Chevy’s lineup from the Malibu to the new Traverse. For the most part, it works – giving the small car a bit of character. You will now be able to pick out your Aveo in a parking lot full of older econoboxes. It’s too bad that the Aveo has to compete with the Honda Fit, the Toyota Yaris and the Nissan Versa, since all three stand head and shoulders above the Aveo – no matter what its nose looks like.
