It's all new and now buyers will have the chance to not only see one up close and personal, but take it for a test drive. We're talking about the latest Honda CR-V, the best-selling crossover in America, which hit dealer showrooms earlier this week.

For 2017, Honda's compact crossover features a more aerodynamic body and a longer wheelbase (104.7 in., up from 103.7 in.). Narrower A-pillars improve visibility, overall length is up from 179.4 inches to 180.6 inches and width has also been increased 1.4 inches (from 71.6 inches to 73.0 inches).

Passenger volume has been increased from 101.5 to 102.9 cubic feet (on the non-sunroof LX it's up from 104.1 to 105.9 cubic feet). Cargo room behind the rear seat has also been increased from 35.2 to 39.2 cubic feet.

All four 2016 trim levels remain: entry LX, mid EX, leather-trimmed EX-L top line Touring.

Inside there's a new soft-touch instrument panel and a new color TFT IP display. The LX center stack features a 5-inch color LCD with Bluetooth HandsFreeLink and streaming audio, Pandora compatibility and a single USB port. EX and above trims come with two console charging ports and a 7-inch high-res touchscreen that sports an actual physical volume knob – a necessity we found lacking in the previous system. All but the LX trim also are equipped with Honda's Display Audio system with HondaLink connectivity, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, SiriusXM radio and SMS text messaging functionality.

Honda 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4

Under the hood, a new active grille shutter system improves fuel efficiency. The LX model comes with Honda's DOHC direct-injected 2.4-liter inline-4 with 184 horsepower and maximum torque of 180 lb.-ft. that carries over from last year. All other trims are equipped with a 1.5-liter inline-4 turbo that develops 190 horsepower and 179 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are mated to a CVT with Honda's G-Shift control logic.
