In addition to its name change, the newly-christened 86 now sports revised front and rear fascias as well as a new alloy wheel design.

Up front, Toyota has fashioned a new fascia that features a larger center intake, revised bumper and re-configured LED front headlamps and turn signals. Meanwhile, the new rear fascia incorporates a new bumper design as well as standard LED tail lamps. Along the sides, the upper fender badge surround has been replaced by strakes, while a new "86" badge has been moved to a spot midway down the fender and new alloy wheels feature a "twisted spoke" motif.

Inside, the 86 logo appears on a new "Grandlux" material used on the instrument panel surround as well as the door trim. A new seating material features silver stitching while the steering wheel with integrated audio controls has an 86 logo on the center hub.

Chassis revisions include revised shock tuning and a spring rate change. Manually-equipped models also receive a differential gear ratio change while, at the same time, revised engine tuning results in an increase in torque to 156 lb.-ft, as well as a five-horsepower increase to 205 hp. On both manual and automatic models, Hill Start Assist Control is now standard.
