Yesterday, Ford revealed that the F-Series is now the "Official Truck of the NFL" as they announced a three-year partnership with the National Football League (NFL). Additionally, Ford is offering a number of exclusive tailgate experiences and sponsoring a new award during the NFL season. This announcement comes at a good time — the NFL season kicks off tonight when the Carolina Panthers visit the defending champion Denver Broncos.

Ford Providing Unique Tailgating Experiences

The Blue Oval's latest marketing endeavor with the NFL not only makes the F-Series the "Official Truck of the NFL," but Ford will also be introducing a number of unique tailgating experiences throughout the NFL season.

First off, fans in New York City can order a "Built Ford Tough Tailgate Truck" on demand via Uber. These NFL-themed 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks will deliver tailgate food, tickets, and merchandise to football fans in the Big Apple.

Also, Ford is bringing the "Built Ford Tough Tailgate Tour" to various NFL games throughout the season. Fans can win tickets to games and access to their own tailgate truck.

On top of these tailgate experiences, Ford is also sponsoring the "Toughest Ticket" sweepstakes. One lucky winner will score a 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty truck with an NFL team design of their choosing AND a pair of tickets to Super Bowl LI. The VIP trip covers airfare, accommodations, and spending money to the February 2017 event in Houston, Texas.

Fans can enter the sweepstakes at NFL.com/Ford up until January 22nd of 2017.

Ford Sponsoring a New NFL Award

The Dearborn automaker will also be sponsoring a new award during each week of the soon-to-kickoff NFL season. The "Built Ford Tough Offensive Line of the Week" will honor a top-performing offensive line from the previous week of play.

This first-ever award will be given out each Tuesday during the season, and fans can track the winners on NFL.com/Ford. Former NFL offensive lineman and current NFL Network and NFL.com analyst Shaun O'Hara will be determining the winners.

And at the season's conclusion, one unit will be recognized as the "Built Ford Tough Offensive Line of the Year" at the annual NFL honors awards presentation.

"America's truck leader is teaming up with organizers of the nation's favorite sport to put the spotlight on fans and players who show toughness, smarts and determination on and off the field, and who deserve to be recognized for that," said Mark LaNeve, vice president of U.S. marketing, sales and service at the Ford Motor Company.

Ford and the NFL Team Up Again

Ford has had close ties to the NFL for decades - a member of the Ford family has owned the Detroit Lions franchise (whose stadium is unsurprisingly named Ford Field) since 1963. The Lions are currently owned by the family of Ford Motor Executive Chairman Bill Ford.

This is hardly the first time that the Blue Oval has marketed with the NFL. Lincoln, Ford's luxury division, was named the official luxury vehicle of the Dallas Cowboys in August. And just a few weeks ago, Ford released a special edition Dallas Cowboys F-150 model.

Hyundai is also currently an official sponsor of the NFL, having partnered up with the league in 2015, but they only lay claim to the official car, SUV and luxury vehicle of the NFL, as they don't offer any trucks. Ford was surely happy to step in and claim the "Official Truck" title for their flagship F-Series.
