Ford unveils an even pricier version of its F150 SVT Raptor

When you're hot, you're hot

You would think there'd be few takers for a half-ton pickup with a price tag that approaches nearly 50 large. But if that's what you're indeed thinking, you'd be oh so wrong. According to sources at Ford, the F-150 Raptor, what the company calls "the ultimate high-performance off-road pickup truck," has an average stay on dealer lots of just 15 days.

Even with gas prices hovering above $3.50 per gallon sales are up over last year by 14 percent with record numbers leaving showrooms in five of the past six months.

With that in mind, Ford has just set in motion plans for making their top-shelf pickup even more exclusive.

2014 F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition

"Raptor owners are looking for a high-performing, uncompromising off-road pickup truck with the features and luxuries found in today's premium trucks," said Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager. "Since its launch in 2009, we've continually moved Raptor forward in capability and design, and the 2014 Special Edition is the best Raptor yet."

In the case of the SVT Raptor, that means adding even more opulent touches to its existing Luxury Package including:

•    An exclusive Ruby Red Metallic exterior color (it’s also available in Tuxedo Black Metallic)
•    Unique box-side graphics
•    Brick Red seat bolsters with black inserts and cloth honeycomb highlights
•    Console top finish panel
•    Center stack and door panel appliqué accents
