Nicholas Cage has nothing on the Neiman Marcus Chevrolet Camaro convertible
The Christmas Catalog

The business founded in 1907 by Herbert Marcus, Sr., Carrie Marcus Neiman and A.L. Neiman is noted for its Christmas Catalog, a Neiman Marcus tradition since 1939.
For 2010, an item of particular interest to automotive buffs appeared on pages 44 and 45:

It's already the iconic American high-performance muscle car. Now, the Chevrolet Camaro gets a luxury convertible makeover just in time for the holidays. Regular production will not even begin until 2011, but why wait that long? Loaded with all the performance, smart technology, and luxury one expects from industry leaders, the NM Exclusive edition of just 100 Camaro convertibles is destined for glory. The top-of-the-line 2SS model has a ferocious 6.2-liter V8 engine and the purchaser's choice of a 426-horsepower six-speed manual or 400-horsepower six-speed automatic transmission. Brembo® high-performance disc brakes and Pirelli P-ZeroTM ultrahigh performance tires keep the ride under control. The StabiliTrak electronic stability control system and 4.5-link independent rear suspension keep it smooth. Glowing LED Halo-Ring Headlamps add a distinctive look. Inside, one can stay connected with Bluetooth® wireless phone and USB interface. Award-winning OnStar® with turn-by-turn navigation and safety features provides one-touch directions and a wealth of information. Access to 170-channel XM satellite radio is included, and it sounds amazing on the Boston Acoustics premium seven-speaker, 245-watt sound system. For safety there are front- and side-impact airbags, and rear parking assist with ultrasonic sensors. The NM Edition Camaro convertibles feature an exclusive tri-coat exterior paint in Deep Bordeaux with ghosted stripes. The Pirellis ride on exclusive 21-inch five-spoke wheels with Brilliant Red detailing. The beautiful Bordeaux hued convertible top is highlighted with a silver painted windshield surround. Inside, the richly appointed interior in Amber leather has Brilliant Red accents on the center console, steering wheel, and shift knob.

He who hesitates is lost

If you’re contemplating buying one of these gems, you can forget about it, since Neiman Marcus sold out their entire allotment of 100 in three minutes.

Not that we’re adopting a glass half empty attitude, but here at LotPro.com we decided to compute just how much of a premium these lucky 100 buyers paid. According to Chevy, the convertible will be available in the same trim levels as the coupe. If that’s the case, then its $30,000 base price is a $6,500 premium over the base coupe.
We then went to Chevrolet.com and optioned an SS to the hilt. It came in at $42,680 with the RS Package, 21” machined alloy wheel package (dealer installed), cyber grey stripes and automatic transmission. When you tack on the convertible’s additional cost, it comes to just over $49,000. And while we can’t put a price on exclusivity, it appears that Neiman Marcus can, to the tune of right around $26,000, an amount, speaking of exclusivity, that would just about cover the price of a Rolls-Royce picnic basket ($19,000) plus a Breitling Bentley GMT Chronograph ($6,000).
