Mazda has released additional information about its upcoming CX-3 subcompact crossover while only hinting at its eventual pricing
2016 Mazda CX-3
Mazda has announced that when the 2016 CX-3 goes on sale in the fall of 2015, it will have an MSRP that "is expected to start in the low $20,000s." Aside from those rather nebulous generalizations, we now know much more about what to expect when it does hit dealer showrooms.
To begin with, it will be available in three levels of trim – Sport, Touring and Grand Touring. All three trim levels will be powered by the same engine and transmission combination – a Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter engine and six-speed automatic (no manual will be available) in either front-wheel-drive or the brand's i-Activ AWD. And while its EPA numbers have yet to be certified, Mazda expects fuel economy to top the class (something, by the way, we've come to expect from Mazda vehicles as of late).
2016 CX-3 trim levels
CX-3 Sport
The Sport trim includes 16-inch steel wheels and cloth seats with a 60/40 split bench in back. Also standard are such amenities as air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, power windows and locks, keyless entry with push-button start, AM/FM/CD player, USB input, Bluetooth hands-free phone and music streaming, Mazda Connect infotainment with a 7-inch monitor, Mazda's multi-function commander control, voice command, Aha/Pandora/Stitcher internet radio compatibility, SMS text message audio delivery and reply.
CX-3 Touring
Checking the CX-3 Touring box will add 16-inch alloy wheels, a 6-speaker audio system, heated outside mirrors with built-in turn signal lamps and a center armrest. Options include leatherette seating, a 7-speaker Bose audio system, power moonroof, SiriusXM/HD radio, heated seats and a cargo cover.
CX-3 Grand Touring
Stepping up to the Grand Touring trim adds 18-inch alloy wheels, power moonroof, leather/Lux Suede seats (heated in front), LED headlights (adaptive), fog lights and daytime running lights, navigation, 7-speaker Bose audio, SiriusXM/HD radio, automatic climate control, Active Driving Display, paddle shifters and a rear cargo cover.
The optional GT i-ACTIVSENSE package adds Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Smart City Brake Support, Smart Brake Support, lane-departure warning, high beam control, automatic on/off headlights and rain-sensing wipers.
Optional premium Crystal White Pearl Mica and Soul Red Metallic paint colors are available on all trim levels.
