Mazda this week revealed that production has begun on 2017 MX-5 Miata RF retractable hardtop models. It also noted that the first models would be bound for North American and European markets and deliveries of the first models (the MX-5 RF Launch Edition) will begin in early 2017. More importantly, however, it also announced complete pricing details for both production trim levels plus pricing and details on how interested buyers can reserve one of the remaining 1,000 limited-edition launch editions.

Mazda MX-5 RF Launch Edition

On Monday, Mazda released pricing information the 2017 MX-5 RF Launch Edition. It also noted that the majority of these vehicles had already been spoken for by previous Mazda owners who, because of their loyalty to the brand, had been able to reserve one a week earlier.

Based on the Grand Touring trim level, all Launch Edition models will feature a Machine Gray Metallic exterior color and Auburn Nappa leather interior trim with a hand-painted black roof panel (it will be the only U.S.-bound MX-5 RF with either a black top or Nappa leather interior). The only option customers have is the choice of either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.

Launch Edition models will be priced at $34,685 when equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and $35,760 if equipped with a six-speed automatic.

Customers interested in ordering a Launch Edition can visit MX5RFPreorder.com where they will be able to submit a $500 refundable deposit toward the purchase of one of the remaining 1,000 models.
