The latest Jeep accessory from Mopar is a hood decal that owners can order pre configured as well as customize
Make it yours
Earlier today, Fiat Chrysler Automobile's Mopar parts division announced yet another accessory. This one, however, will allow Jeep aficionados to make theirs truly one-of-a-kind.
The introduction of Jeep Custom Hood Decals means Jeep owners can now go online and personalize the hood of their 2007-2015 Jeep Wranglers, 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokees and 2011-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees.
Included among the choices are a number of pre-configured map decals of a number of iconic trails including Hell's Revenge, Poison Spider and the Rubicon Trail. Other off-the-shelf features include two border colors as well as the ability to identify a specific point of interest using either a bulls-eye or compass icon. But for those so inclined, the options go way beyond this.
In fact, a special online tool, called "add a map", allows users to search a favorite location by zip code and, once it's located, zoom in or out and even move the background around behind the superimposed Jeep hood. Once completed, the point of interest (which can be placed anywhere on the map) can then be highlighted with the aforementioned bulls-eye or compass icon. If the red accent color is chosen (the choices are red or black) in addition to the border, either the compass icon or bulls-eye point is also highlighted in red.
We've already tried it and, trust us, playing with this tool is a hoot.
The cost of the Mopar Jeep hood decals, produced with premium 3M films, are $295, plus tax, which doesn't include the price of installation (which can be done, we're assuming, by most Jeep dealers – that is, unless you feel brave enough to attempt it at which point you only have yourself to blame if you screwed it up and just wasted more than three Benjamin Franklins on the altar of your own ego).
How to get one
Here's what Mopar has to say:
Owners can visit the online map tool at www.mopar.com/jeephoods to select a decal, with the power to view and choose maps of a favorite trail or even a particular zip code. Once a customer chooses a hood decal design, a part number and unique design code is generated, which the customer then takes to their Jeep dealership for ordering. Decals will ship directly to the dealer, with customers having the option of dealership or independent installation.
