Wrapping it up

The final OEM press conference slot on opening day of the 2013 SEMA Show belonged to the Chrysler Group and the Auburn Hills-based manufacturer didn't disappoint as it announced an updated version the "Scat Pack Club" with three Scat Package performance stage kits well as the return of the "Shaker" hood for the Challenger.

It was back in 1968 that Chrysler's Dodge division created the Scat Pack Club – an idea that quickly evolved from just an enthusiast club to the branding of factory-engineered performance kits known as "Scat Packages."

And while the Scat Pack Club was disbanded after just four years, Dodge found that the name still resonates with the faithful – so much so that the brand is bringing back the club (sans a newsletter, although Dodge has promised a new online version is in the works).

More importantly, Dodge has developed three performance upgrade Scat Packages each for its 5.7-liter Hemi-equipped Challenger and Charger and 2.4-liter Tigershark-equipped Dart vehicles that will become available next spring.

According to Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge Brand, "Bringing back factory stage kits allows Dodge enthusiasts to extract the maximum performance from their vehicles without the fear and guesswork typically associated with modifying late-model vehicles."

That's right.

In 2014 there will be two models in the Challenger lineup – the 2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker and the limited-production (only 100 will be built) Mopar '14 Challenger.
