Ram Laramie Longhorn gets new Two-Tone Paint Option

White gold is out, while a new RV-matching brown will become the model's latest, optional, two-tone contrast color.

Here are the facts: More Texans drive pickup trucks than drivers in any other state; 20 percent of motor vehicle registrations versus 12 percent national average. FCA's Ram brand sells nearly two-and-a-half times as many pickup trucks in Texas as it does in the next-highest volume state. In October of last year, the 2017 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn was voted the Luxury Truck of Texas by the Texas Auto Writers Association.

Having said that, the Ram Laramie Longhorn is back in the Big D this week and, highlighting the importance of the Texas market to FCA's truck brand, Ram chose this year's Dallas Auto Show to reveal a Laramie Longhorn with a new two-tone contrast color.

The new paint trim color is called RV Match Brown. It's a slightly odd moniker, but FCA explains it this way: "the new RV Match Brown was chosen to closely match or complement a shade of brown that is frequently used in the exterior design of RV travel trailers, including premium fifth-wheel models."

Non two-tone paint is standard, while the new RV Match Brown, as part of the optional two-tone color scheme, will appear on the lower body, wheel flares, painted front and rear bumpers and running boards. The nine upper color choices include Black Forest Green, Bright Silver, Bright White, Brilliant Black Crystal, Delmonico Red, Granite Crystal, Maximum Steel, Pearl White and True Blue.

A tenth optional two-tone choice, Bright Silver two-tone contrast, will carry over in 2017.

2017 Ram Laramie Longhorn models

The Laramie Longhorn trim level is available across the Ram lineup, which includes 1500, 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty models. The Ram Heavy Duty Laramie Longhorn edition, with over 30,000 pounds of trailering capability, is particularly well suited to tow a camper or recreational vehicle.
