Yet another Texas-branded pickup, introduced at the 2016 State Fair of Texas, is available to buyers in the Lone Star State.
Texas edition pickups
Last year, FCA's Ram brand summed up the Texas pickup truck market this way:
"More Texans drive pickup trucks than drivers in any other state; 20 percent of motor vehicle registrations versus 12 percent national average. In fact, Ram sells nearly two-and-a-half times as many pickup trucks in Texas as it does in the next-highest volume state."
Okay, we get it. But in addition to their attachment to pickups, Texans must love the heck out of all the chrome slapped just about everywhere on these brawny vehicles. If not, how do you explain the latest "Texas only" edition, this one from Nissan?
According to Fred Diaz, Nissan VP and GM of North American trucks and light commercial vehicles, "Titan XD was named 'Texas Truck of the Year' last fall by the Texas Auto Writers Association so it's fitting to acknowledge the Lone Star State with this special vehicle. For native Texans like myself, the Texas Titan is the perfect representation of Texas attitude – big horsepower, big torque, huge capabilities."
Mr. Diaz, however, did forget to mention the fact that the Texas Titan also comes with "big chrome" everywhere.
2017 Nissan Texas Titan package
Available in Titan and Titan XD SV and SL crew cab trim levels in either 4x4 or 4x2 drivetrains, the 2017 Texas Titan package consists of the following elements:
• Chrome inner and outer grille finish
• Chrome 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels
• Chrome metallic-finish kick plates
• Texas TITAN floor mats (the stitching looks like chrome)
• Chrome exhaust finishers
• Chrome Texas Titan (we don't need no) badges
The front bumper, it should be noted, is also chrome.
