The more "top-heavy" the vehicle, the more likely it is to roll over. The lowest rated vehicles (1-star) are at least four times more likely to roll over than the highest rated vehicles (5-stars).

2005 Jeep Liberty Review
"An available turbocharged diesel engine and two new transmissions highlight 2005 additions to Jeep's 4-dr compact SUV. Liberty is a 5-seat wagon with a swing-open tailgate and exterior spare tire. The base Sport model comes with a 150-hp 4-cyl engine. A 210-hp V6 is optional for the Sport, standard on Limited and Renegade models. The new turbodiesel, a 160-hp 4-cyl, is optional for Sport and Limited. The 4-cyl gas engine teams only with manual transmission, now a 6-speed in place of a 5-speed. The V6 offers the 6-speed manual or optional 4-speed automatic. The turbodiesel comes only with a 5-speed automatic, also new to Liberty. All models offer rear-wheel drive or a choice of two 4WD systems, both with low-range gearing. Jeep's Command-Trac 4WD should not be left engaged on dry pavement. Selec-Trac 4WD can be left engaged on dry pavement. Liberty's 5000-lb towing capacity is tops among compact SUVs. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard. ABS and head-protecting curtain side airbags are optional. All models get a modest styling update for '05, with Renegades gaining a flatter hood, taller grille, fender flares, and other specific touches. Sports, Renegades, and Limited diesels have 16-inch wheels, gasoline Limiteds have 17s. All have a 65/35 split folding rear seat. Leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a sunroof are available. New options include satellite radio, navigation system, and Chrysler's UConnect, which uses the audio system as a hands-free, wireless link to cell phones."

Summary Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2004-2007 Jeep Liberty vehicles. The rear suspension lower control arms can fracture due to excessive corrosion, causing a loss of vehicle control.
Consequence A fractured control arm can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear lower control arms, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 20, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U38. Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 12V-085. Vehicles included in that campaign are not included in this recall.
