First thing you might notice is if you have been following our weekly list is that these cheap used cars aren't very different from last week's list. In fact between our list of used cars and used trucks for sale very little changed at all except a few spots on the bottom of our used cars list. The Pontiac G3 made the list, the Toyota Corolla slipped a spot, and the Chevrolet Aveo just didn't make the cut. The good news is this makes it rather easy to remember the best MPG used cars for 2008 or 2009 as they are both very close.

Some reshuffling among the used SUVs with the best gas mileage but it is mostly cosmetic as well. The Jeep Compass gets similar numbers to the Jeep Patriot though given the design of early Patriot's going with the Compass isn't a bad idea. The Mazda Tribute is also extremely coparable to the Toyota Rav4 compact SUV if you are looking for additional options for your next cheap SUV. Given the potential repair cost of an aging hybrid though the smart choice for those looking for the cheapest SUV might be the Tribute, Rav4, or one of the two Jeep models. Check back next week as we review the gas mileage of 2007.
