It’s Friday here at LotPro.com and, as usual, it’s time to go a bit further afield than normal in our quest for entertainment of the four-wheeled variety. But instead of looking far afield, today we’re going to turn a bit inward into the LotPro.com website in order to find something interesting.

Our web site, LotPro.com, is not just a blog site. It also contains new car and used car information as well as a search feature that allows users to locate the car of their choice – new or used – at a dealer near them.

Not your father’s caddy

For today’s adventure, we pretended that we lived in California in the Concord, Hayward, and Fremont area. This was not done on a whim; mind you, for at this time of year, quite a few of us in southeastern Michigan find ourselves wishing that we lived in the warmer climes. Although we have yet to see any of the white stuff floating down from the skies, the specter of winter looms before most of us as the Thanksgiving holiday nears. In any case, Fremont it is and the vehicle we chose was none other than Cadillac’s fastest 2-seater, the XLR-V.

First introduced in 2005 at that year’s New York Auto Show, the XLR-V features a slightly de-tuned version of the 4.4-liter Northstar V-8 that was found in the STS-V sedan that produces 443 hp and 414 lb.-ft. of torque aided, in no small part, by a roots-type supercharger and four intercoolers built into the intake manifold.

2007 Black XLR-V

Today’s lesson in relative affordability leads us to a used 2007 Cadillac XLR-V in black with just over 8,900 miles on the clock, a list price of $59,900 and located in Roseville, California. The options list is fairly short because, quite frankly, there aren’t any to be had.

Standard amenities include a Bose® sound system with noise compensation technology, head-up display, xenon headlamps, retractable hardtop, adaptive cruise control and driver and passenger seats that are both heated and ventilated.

Aside from the prodigious amounts of horsepower produced by the Northstar, the V also comes with stability control (4 selectable modes), push-button start and other upgrades from more proletarian XLR’s in the form of a solid front anti-roll bar, a rear anti-roll bar (missing from other versions) as well as a ride program that has been recalibrated to match the V’s enhanced performance.

Pricing

Kelley Blue Book estimates the value of this type of vehicle at $53,900 retail, while Edmunds values it at $53,768 or $55,742 for a certified version. But with 2009 scheduled to be the last year for this model, values may rise due to its impending demise.
