The twelve finalists each create a customized 2011 Ford Fiesta as Ford prepares to give away nine of them in its latest American Idol promotion

Let’s face it, not all the car guys here at LotPro.com are fans of the American Idol program. But we just might end up jumping on the bandwagon if it means getting a chance to win a new 2011 Ford Fiesta.
Finalists trick out a Fiesta
In a press release yesterday issued before that evening’s American Idol program, Ford announced that all twelve finalists had been given the opportunity to work with a team of Ford designers to personalize a 2011 Ford Fiesta.

The process began by giving each contestant the choice of nine colors including lime, blue and magenta. Not surprisingly, Tuxedo Black was the most popular chosen by male “Idols”, while the ladies favored the more vivid shades. The vehicles, all rendered in CGI, offered the contestants the ability to not only add graphics, but also such additional options as the Fiesta’s 3dCarbon body kit.

According to the press blurb, “Four up-and-coming Ford designers – Dillon Blanski, Gustavo Bizyk, Lesli Ann Agcaoili and Dean Carbis – reviewed the questionnaires, traveled to Hollywood to meet with the Idols, and then helped each contestant develop the concept for his or her personalized Fiesta, using color, custom body graphics, wheel treatments and other accessories to transform the vehicle into an expression of each contestant’s individuality.”

And in an understatement, Ford also had this to say, “Not surprisingly, music was a common theme among the contestants.” Ya think?
The contest
In any case, the good news for both Idol fans and car buffs is that Ford is going to give away nine copies of these custom Fiestas (plus a trip for two out to Cali to rub shoulders with the contestants and attend the show) in the next nine weeks, starting right now.
All you have to do to qualify is to be a U.S. resident and 18 years old or older and not work for Ford, American Idol, Fox Broadcasting or anyone else connected with the program. Visit the web site www.americanidol.com/ford/challenge, answer the video trivia question, complete the online entry form and, voilà, you’re entered. One new Fiesta will be given away during each of the eight weekly elimination shows, plus one grand prize winner for a total of 9 cars (see the web site for more details).
It’s simple, it’s fast, and you don’t even have to get the trivia questions right in order to qualify.
