For gearheads it's been a great 23 year run, but it's time now to bid hail and farewell to one of the most iconic vehicles in the history of Japanese sport sedans. But the good news is Mitsubishi plans on sending out the U.S.-spec Lancer Evolution on a high note.
For starters, the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition's 2.0-liter MIVEC turbocharged inline-4 will pump out 303 horsepower and 305 lb-ft torque – an increase of 12 horsepower and 5 lb.-ft. of torque over lesser EVOs.
Additional mechanical enhancements to the Final Edition model over the GSR, on which it's based, include Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach springs as well as Brembo 2-piece front rotors.
However the upgrades, as you might expect, won't be limited to chassis and engine improvements. After all, if you own one of only 1,600 examples (which the Final Edition will be limited to), you ought to be able to advertise the fact.
To that end, the exterior will be fitted with a Final Edition badge, a black painted aluminum roof, a gloss black center bumper and hood air outlet, dark chrome painted Enkei alloy wheels and front grille surround as well as auto on/off bi-xenon HID headlights.
