Earlier today, Subaru of America released a teaser image depicting a headlamp and a portion of the front fascia of the redesigned 2017 Impreza.

The fifth generation of Subaru's compact offering, like its predecessors, will be available as either a four-door sedan or a five-door hatchback and both will make their world debuts at a press conference scheduled for 12:20 p.m. ET on March 23, 2016 at the Subaru display during media days at the 2016 New York Auto Show (no word yet on when a new version of the Impreza-based Crosstrek will be introduced).

Although the image only shows a portion of the new model, the upright grille, taught lines and deep-set headlamp enclosure bear a strong resemblance to the design language of a trio of recent Subie concept vehicles – the Impreza 5-Door Concept unveiled in Tokyo last October, the Impreza Sedan Concept that made its intro last November at the 2015 Los Angeles International Auto Show and the XV Concept that was unwrapped at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show earlier this month.

According to Subaru, "The Impreza has been completely redesigned inside and out, from upgraded in-car technology and a more spacious interior to its sleek new body design. The updated model will include signature Subaru features such as Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and award-winning safety technology."
