In a bid to attract new pickup truck buyers, Nissan takes a page from the Hyundai-Kia playbook.
2017 Nissan Titan Warranty
Suffice it to say that pickup truck buyers are a notoriously loyal lot. So steadfast, in fact, that Japanese manufactures have, over the past 17 years, had a heck of a time trying to make a dent in American buyer's loyalty to domestic full-size pickups.
In an effort to entice those new to the segment (and perhaps even a few current Ford, Chevy and Ram owners), earlier today, Nissan made a pair of announcements. The first had to do with the pricing structure of its gasoline engine-equipped, crew cab half ton models. At the same time, in even bigger news, the second referenced a new, longer, comprehensive bumper-to-bumper warranty that will eventually be rolled out for all 2017 Titan pickup trucks.
The move recalls the ambitious 5 year/60,000 mile limited warranty and 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain limited warranty both Hyundai and Kia rolled out nearly 18 years ago.
"We're pleased to now offer the same confidence-inspiring protection as our commercial vehicles for our entire range of 2017 Titan and Titan XD full-size pickups," said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc. "The new bumper-to-bumper coverage shows customers that Nissan stands behind the quality of its vehicles – including the ones that are subject to the hardest use."
The warranty coverage Diaz is alluding to is Nissan's self-proclaimed "America's Best Truck Warranty", which features bumper-to-bumper coverage of 5-years/100,000-miles, whichever comes first.
The warranty, which first appeared in 2014 and currently covers Nissan's light commercial vehicle lineup, will now cover all 2017 Titan V8 gasoline-powered models and diesel and V8 gasoline-powered Titan XD full-size pickups.
"Titan will ultimately be available in a total of three cabs, three bed lengths, three engines, 4x4 and 4x2 drive and S, SV, SL, PRO-4X and Platinum Reserve trim levels – covering about 85 percent of the total light pickup marketplace," said Diaz. "And each and every one of them will be covered by the new 5-year/100,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty – the best truck warranty in America."
