Media days for this year's North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) will take place beginning Sunday, January 8th, when the inaugural AutoMobili-D will kick off at 2:00 P.M. Pixar Animation Studios will host the first press conference that will include a life-size version of one of the stars as well as an early look at the new "Cars 3" film that will debut in the summer of 2017.

On Monday, January 9th, things really get going and, earlier this week, three manufacturers released the first teaser images of what they have in store.

Audi will debut the Q8 concept, describing it as "a synthesis of the emotion styling of a coupe and the spaciousness that typifies an SUV."

"With the Audi Q8 concept, we have created a new spearhead within our Q model line. Its design strongly evokes sportiness and prestige," said Audi Head of Design Marc Lichte. "What's more, we believe an important aspect of this showcar is that it offers a spacious interior with four equally comfortable seats, even with the flat roof line."

Taking a number of design cues from the iconic VW Microbus, Volkswagen's latest I.D. concept car, if rumors hold true, will preview some kind of production minivan. The I.D. designation means propulsion will be electric-based and, if it is produced, it will be based on the electric MEB platform.
